I enjoy your blog a great deal.. I am long interested in borders, and in particular border anomolies. Several questions, the first a specific one directed to you, the second a more general topic about which you might have some ideas:
    1. Did you ever resolve the mystery of the border-marker in the parking lot (the one by the Basque-looking house?)
    2. The historical question of what happens with border enclaves/exclaves or anomolies (and very small countries on the borders of combatants or combatant-neutrals) in times of war? For instance, I’ve yet to see a treatment of Pheasant Island, Pays Quint, Andorra or Llivia during the Second World War…(or for that matter, Buesingen, Liechtenstein, Campione d’Italia or San Marino… or how about Baarle Naussau/-Hertog during the First World War, when Holland was neutral and Belgium not?)

      Thanks, David, for your comment

      – About that bm on the parking-lot in the Basque Country: still a mystery
      – About enclaves and likewise in wartime: I have no information on how war affected life in and status of Llivia, Pays Quint, Pheasant Island, Ondarolle and Andorra
      – But considering the enclaves of Baarle (± 50 km from where I live): the Baarle Hertog enclaves where a stronghold of Belgium outside their occupied territory. Not in a military sense but towards information: immense postal traffic and large-scale radio broadcasting. See http://www.bol.com/nl/p/listening-to-ludendorff/9200000017136413/
